The most common questions about Valdosta moving tote rentals
Reusable totes remove many of the frustrations of cardboard, but renting moving equipment may be new to you. These answers explain what is included, how the process works and what customers should expect before, during and after the move.
Pricing & Packages
How much does a tote rental cost, and what is included?
Valdosta Tote Rentals offers three straightforward package sizes for local moves. The 20-tote package costs $99 and includes one dolly. The 40-tote package costs $169 and includes two dollies. The 60-tote package costs $219 and includes three dollies. Every package includes a standard two-week rental period plus free delivery and pickup for confirmed addresses within 25 miles of ZIP code 31605.
The purpose of the three sizes is to give customers a practical starting point rather than asking everyone to build a complicated order one tote at a time. A dorm room, studio apartment, partial move or lightly furnished one-bedroom space may be suited to 20 totes. A two-bedroom apartment, small home or household with more books, kitchenware, décor and closets may be better served by 40. A larger home, office or customer who owns more belongings may prefer 60.
Totey’s Advice
Do not count bedrooms alone.
Closets, cabinets, garage shelves, books, seasonal decorations and storage units can change the estimate significantly.
What are the current rental package prices?
The current packages are 20 totes with one dolly for $99, 40 totes with two dollies for $169, and 60 totes with three dollies for $219. Each package includes a two-week rental and free delivery and pickup in the included service area.
Are dollies included, or do they cost extra?
Dollies are included in the package price. The 20-tote package includes one dolly, the 40-tote package includes two, and the 60-tote package includes three. The dollies remain rental equipment and must be returned with the totes.
How many totes should I rent?
Twenty totes can be a practical starting point for a dorm, studio, one-bedroom apartment, partial move or small project. Forty may work for a two-bedroom apartment or small home. Sixty may be better for a larger household or office. These are planning guides, not guarantees, because every customer owns a different amount.
What if I need more than 60 totes?
Contact Valdosta Tote Rentals with the details of your move. Additional inventory or multiple packages may be possible depending on availability, delivery scheduling and the final reservation terms.
Are packing supplies included?
The standard packages include the specified totes and dollies. Labels, cushioning, wrap, specialty containers and other packing materials are not described as included unless they are specifically added to your confirmed reservation.
Are there hidden fees?
The listed package price covers the package, standard two-week period, included dollies and free delivery and pickup in the service area. Charges may apply for approved extensions, missing equipment, damage, unusual cleaning, failed access or other situations described in the final agreement and disclosed fee schedule. Those amounts should be provided before the customer signs.
Delivery & Pickup
Where does Valdosta Tote Rentals deliver?
Free delivery and pickup are included for eligible addresses within 25 miles of ZIP code 31605. That radius is designed to serve Valdosta and nearby communities while keeping the service dependable and local. Because a mileage radius does not follow city or county lines perfectly, an address should be checked during the availability process rather than assumed to qualify based only on the city name.
Customers outside the included radius may still ask whether service is possible. An exception is not guaranteed and may depend on mileage, route scheduling, inventory and an additional delivery fee. The delivery location and pickup location should both be disclosed when requesting availability, especially when the totes will be delivered to the old home and collected from the new one.
Customers should prepare a safe, accessible area for both appointments. Gates, pets, parked vehicles, stairs, apartment access, base access and other restrictions should be discussed before the scheduled visit. The final confirmation should explain whether someone must be present and where the equipment will be placed.
Before delivery or pickup
Is delivery and pickup really free?
Yes, standard delivery and pickup are included for confirmed eligible addresses within 25 miles of ZIP code 31605. Special arrangements, additional trips, inaccessible equipment or service outside the included area may be handled differently under the final terms.
Can the pickup address be different from the delivery address?
Yes, when both locations are disclosed, approved and included in the reservation. This is useful for a local move when the totes are delivered to the old residence and picked up at the new one.
Do I need to be home for delivery?
The final delivery procedure should state whether someone must be present. Do not assume unattended delivery is available. Access instructions, gate codes and placement must be approved in advance.
What happens if the driver cannot access the totes?
If gates are locked, pets are loose, vehicles block access, the equipment is not ready or the location is otherwise inaccessible, another trip may be necessary. Any applicable charge should follow the signed agreement and disclosed fee schedule.
Can you deliver to Moody Air Force Base?
Service depends on the exact address, distance, current base-access requirements and an approved delivery plan. Customers should disclose that the location is on or connected with the base so access can be discussed before confirmation.
Can you deliver to an apartment or dorm?
Potentially, yes. The customer should explain parking, building access, elevators, stairs, loading zones and any property-management rules when requesting availability. Delivery should be coordinated with the residence’s policies.
Packing & Safe Use
What can I pack, and how should I use the totes?
The black totes with yellow lids are well suited to ordinary household and office items such as clothing, linens, toys, books in moderate amounts, pantry goods that are sealed and nonperishable, kitchenware, décor, files and many small belongings. They are not a substitute for every specialty moving container. Televisions, mirrors, framed art, mattresses, hanging clothes, unusually fragile valuables and oversized items may need different packing materials.
Customers should distribute weight carefully. A tote packed entirely with books, canned food, tools or other dense objects may become unsafe to lift even when the container itself can physically hold them. Combine heavier items with lighter contents, close the lid without forcing it and use safe lifting techniques. The included dollies help move stable stacks across suitable surfaces, but they should not be overloaded or used on unsafe stairs and steep grades.
The totes are moisture-resistant and more dependable than ordinary cardboard in light rain or damp conditions, but they are not promoted as watertight, floodproof or a replacement for protective packaging around electronics and documents. Customers remain responsible for protecting their belongings and choosing the correct packing method.
Totey’s Safety Tip
Keep These Out of Your Totes
For a safer, cleaner move, do not pack any of the following in your rental totes:
- Flammable or explosive materials
- Leaking liquids or open food
- Hazardous or illegal items
- Anything likely to stain or contaminate
- Overweight contents unsafe to lift
- Items requiring specialty protection without it
Do I need packing tape?
You do not need tape to assemble or close the totes. Use the attached or fitted lid as designed. You may still need cushioning, wrap or other specialty materials to protect fragile belongings inside.
How should I label the totes?
Use removable labels that do not leave residue or damage the plastic. A room name plus a number—such as “Kitchen 2”—works well. Avoid permanent marker, paint and difficult-to-remove adhesives.
Are the totes waterproof?
No waterproof or floodproof promise is made. The plastic design is moisture-resistant and generally offers more protection than cardboard in light dampness, but sensitive belongings should still receive appropriate inner protection.
Can I stand or sit on a tote?
No. The totes and dollies are moving equipment, not stools, steps, chairs or work platforms. Standing, sitting, climbing or allowing children to play on them creates unnecessary risk and may damage the equipment.
Can professional movers use the totes?
Yes. Customers may hire movers to transport their belongings, but they should tell the moving company that reusable totes and dollies are being used. The customer remains responsible for the rental equipment under the agreement.
Can I use the totes for storage?
The standard two-week rental is designed for moving, unpacking and scheduled return. Long-term storage, outdoor storage or other uses require approval and are not automatically included in the regular package.
Returns, Cleaning & Responsibility
What condition should the equipment be in at pickup?
Every tote should be completely empty, reasonably clean, dry and free from trash, food, spills, labels, adhesive residue, pet hair, strong odors and personal belongings. Empty totes should be nested or stacked according to the pickup instructions, with yellow lids and all dollies gathered in the agreed accessible location.
Customers should count the equipment before pickup and report a missing tote, lid or dolly immediately. Early communication is important. Waiting until pickup day can create delays and makes it harder to determine what happened. The same principle applies to damage: report cracks, broken lids, wheel damage or other concerns as soon as they are discovered.
The customer is responsible for reasonable care of the rental equipment during the rental period. The final agreement should explain how loss, theft, unusual cleaning, damage, late return and unsuccessful pickup are handled. Any charges for loss, damage, unusual cleaning, late returns or unsuccessful pickup will be clearly disclosed before the customer completes the reservation.

- Labels removed
- Reasonably clean and dry
- All pieces counted
- Totes nested as directed
- Dollies gathered nearby
Are the totes cleaned between customers?
The equipment is inspected and prepared between rentals. Customers help maintain that standard by returning every item empty, reasonably clean, dry and free of residue, odors, food, trash and pet hair.
What happens if I lose a tote, lid or dolly?
Report the missing item promptly. Responsibility and any replacement charge are handled under the signed rental agreement and the disclosed fee schedule.
What happens if equipment is damaged?
Stop using equipment that appears unsafe and contact Valdosta Tote Rentals. Ordinary wear and customer-caused damage should be distinguished under the agreement. Any charge must follow the disclosed terms.
May I clean a tote myself?
Light cleanup may be appropriate, but do not use harsh chemicals, abrasives, paint, solvents or methods that could discolor or damage the plastic. Ask for guidance if a spill or contamination occurs.
What if I accidentally leave something inside?
Check every tote before pickup. If you later believe an item was left inside, contact Valdosta Tote Rentals immediately. Recovery cannot be guaranteed, so a final inspection is important.
What if I need more than two weeks?
Request an extension as early as possible. It depends on inventory and future reservations and is not guaranteed. Any added time and price should be confirmed in writing.
Local Moving Situations
Are totes useful for students, military households and businesses?
Yes. Uniform reusable totes can simplify many local transitions, especially when organization and speed matter. The right package and delivery plan still depend on the address, amount of belongings, building access and move schedule.
College Students
Totes can help with dorm move-in, apartment changes and local moves near Valdosta State University or Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. Students should coordinate residence access, elevators, parking and move-in rules before delivery.
Military Families
Reusable totes are useful for local transitions, temporary housing and organized “open first” essentials. Base access and exact addresses must be discussed before confirming delivery near or on Moody Air Force Base.
Families
Families can label by room, child or priority and use the dollies to reduce repeated carrying. A first-night tote with bedding, toiletries, chargers and coffee supplies can make arrival easier.
Businesses
Offices can number totes by department, workstation or file category. Computers, monitors and specialty equipment may require separate protective packaging beyond the standard tote.
Are the totes good for dorm moves?
Yes, especially for clothing, bedding, books in reasonable quantities, kitchen basics and room supplies. Students should make sure delivery is permitted and understand campus or property move-in procedures.
Can I use them during a PCS move?
They can help with a local portion of a move, temporary housing or personally managed belongings. They do not replace official military shipping rules or specialty packing requirements. Confirm delivery access before reserving.
Can an office rent totes?
Yes. The package should be selected based on the number of workstations, files and supplies. The customer remains responsible for data security, electronics protection and the rental equipment.
Can I rent totes for a renovation or decluttering project?
A short local project may fit the standard two-week rental, but describe the intended use when requesting availability. The equipment should not be used for construction debris, hazardous materials or outdoor exposure.
Reservations & Changes
How do I become a Totey Mover?
Start by choosing a package or using Totey’s Move Meter for a recommendation. Then submit your name, contact information, preferred package, delivery address, ZIP code and requested date through the website form. The form begins an availability request; it does not automatically guarantee inventory or confirm the rental.
Valdosta Tote Rentals must review the dates, package availability, service radius and delivery plan. The final confirmation should state the package, price, tote and dolly count, delivery and pickup dates, addresses, payment process, cancellation terms and agreement requirements. Customers should not rely on an unconfirmed request when planning movers or a move date.
If plans change, contact the business as early as possible. Package changes, date changes, cancellations and extensions all depend on inventory and scheduling. Early notice gives the best chance of finding a workable solution.
Information to submit
Does submitting the form confirm my rental?
No. It starts an availability request. Confirmation occurs only after the package, dates, inventory, service area, payment process and rental agreement are reviewed.
How far in advance should I reserve?
Reserve as early as you can once your dates are reasonably known, especially during busy moving periods. Inventory is limited, and no specific lead time guarantees availability.
Can I change my package after reserving?
Possibly, if inventory allows. Contact Valdosta Tote Rentals promptly. A larger or smaller package changes the price, tote count and number of dollies.
What is the cancellation policy?
The final cancellation and refund policy should be disclosed before payment and incorporated into the reservation terms. Review it carefully before confirming.
Can I reserve by phone instead?
The final contact methods can include phone, email or the website form once the business contact information is added. Regardless of method, the important details should be documented in the confirmation.
When do I sign the rental agreement?
The agreement should be reviewed and accepted before or at equipment delivery, according to the final business process. Customers should receive the package details and disclosed fee schedule before signing.
Still Have a Question?
